Was it wise to have capped auction attendees?

Last week we read about a national commercial agency declaring they would cap the number of people registered who could attend any of its on-site auctions as a response to social distancing demands brought on by the Coronavirus outbreak. Is it a wise idea to prevent would-be buyers?
